Tai Chi for Healthy Aging
Tai Chi for Healthy Aging is a free course consisting of simplified Tai Chi exercises adapted to the physical abilities of the group. Participants learn to improve balance, gain strength and endurance, reduce pain and achieve greater relaxation.
Tai Chi for Healthy Aging is an evidence-based program that has been researched and proven to improve strength and reduce the risk of falling for older adults.
Those who have difficulty balancing or experience other physical challenges can participate and benefit from the program while sitting or using adaptive equipment. The program emphasizes weight shifting, postural alignment, and coordinated movements.
The program consists of three eight-week units. Each class is one hour long and meets weekly. New participants can enter the program at any point, but may find it easier if they join at the beginning of the workshops series.
