Heroines and Heroes

You’re invited to an intergenerational LGBTIQA gathering!

Celebrate spring, see friends, and meet new folks at the Third Annual Intergenerational LGBTIQA* Gathering: Heroines & Heroes on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, from 5-7:30 pm at Greenfield Community College Dining Commons, One College Drive in Greenfield, Mass.

LGBTIQA 2nd Annual Intergenerational SocialAttendees of the 2nd Annual Intergenerational LGBTIQA Gathering in 2014 shared stories of struggles and support and formed new friendships across the generations. Join us for the 3rd Annual Intergenerational LGBTIQA Gathering on April 21. Enjoy a tasty and healthy meal provided at no cost (donations accepted) and learn from those who span the generations while we continue the great adventure of developing LGBTIQA resources and culture.

Feel free to share a story of a LGBTIQA heroine or hero from your life. For example, you may wish to bring six or more copies of a written or visual handout or prepare anything else you wish to share with others.

RSVP online or call 413-773-5555x2215 or 978-544-2259x2215. Please notify us in advance with any special dietary requests. This is a drug, alcohol, and fragrance free event.

The gathering is a community event of celebration and education. The goals of bringing youth and adults together are to share their experiences of being an LGBTIQA person, express how that experience is different now than in the past and vice versa, ask one another questions, and spend time together.

Past intergenerational gatherings have been well-attended. The first event in 2013 coincided with the Supreme Court’s decision to overrule the Defense of Marriage Act on the morning of June 26. Attendees shared their thoughts on and reactions to the ruling on hand-written cards that were hung on the windows. Some expressed overwhelming joy and others inspiration to work harder for equality, and every reaction was positive.

This event is co-sponsored by Generation Q and TREE (Trans Rights, Education, and Empowerment) Youth Programs of Community Action, Pride Alliance of Greenfield Community College, LGBTIQA Elders Group of LifePath, and Franklin-Hampshire PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays).

The LGBTIQA Elders Steering Committee of LifePath organizes quarterly events for LGBTIQA older adults and allies. Read more.
