Shape up your home with help from Benefits Counseling

Many of us find time during the summer months to do large and small repairs on our homes. Others may be wishing they had the resources to do repairs, but are concerned about the expense. If you have been looking for the resources to repair, modify, or improve your home, this could be your lucky day.

FCRHRA offers assistance to local homeowners

Franklin County Regional Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA) administers housing rehabilitation programs on behalf of 19 towns in Franklin County. The program provides homeowners with interest-free loans up to $35,000. Mortgages are enforced through a recorded mortgage lien on the property and are due and payable at sale or transfer of their property. Work that may be addressed through HRA includes: electrical, plumbing, structural repairs, accessibility modifications, septic repair or replacement, heating, roofing, foundation, doors, wells, windows, and more.

Do you qualify?

Right now, there is money available (and no waiting list) for income-eligible residents of Ashfield, Hawley, and Charlemont. There are also funds available for Erving, New Salem, Northfield, Wendell, Warwick, and Lake Pleasant. If interested, please call Madelaine Taft-Ferguson at HRA at (413) 863-9781 x111.
