Our community responded passionately to the call to help caregivers this giving season. LifePath needed to raise at least $50,000 by the end of 2016 to make sure caregivers can get the support they’ll need in the coming year for all they’ll do to help their loved ones remain in their own homes. Starting with Giving Tuesday on November 29, together our community raised $53,000 and still counting to help provide caregivers and their loved ones with emotional support, practical solutions, information about health insurance, Meals on Wheels, and much more in 2017.
Stephanie and her mom, Kate, shared their story to inspire the community to help more caregivers with what can sometimes feel like overwhelming responsibilities. Stephanie spoke for many when she shared her struggle, “It’s a hard thing to say, ‘You know what? Maybe I’m not going to be able to do all this.’”
Stephanie’s honesty helped motivate giving season generosity toward caregivers. Many gifts came in holiday cards along with heartfelt words of love and support, such as:
“I wish it could be more.”
“My grandmother has since passed, but you all made a great help and difference. Thank you!”
“Thank you for the wonderful services you provide!”
“In appreciation of Meals on Wheels for my friend.”
Without community generosity, it wouldn’t be possible for LifePath to go beyond what public dollars allow to meet the real need out there as our population ages and more and more is expected from busy unpaid family caregivers.
If you haven’t already, it’s not too late to make a gift today to help caregivers make it possible for their loved ones to live at home safely. Make a gift online or mail checks made out to LifePath to: LifePath, Inc., 101 Munson St., Suite 201, Greenfield, MA 01301.
