On Friday, July 28, Energy Park in downtown Greenfield, Mass., lived up to its name and became a dynamic performance space during the second annual “Free As I Want to Be” festival. Started by staff and clients of Viability, Inc., a community-based program that provides supported employment, education, and housing services to people with disabilities, Free As I Want to Be celebrates the creative spirit of individuals of all ability levels. In addition to displaying handmade crafts and art created by clients of Viability, the event showcased multiple local music and dance talents, including Viability’s own in-house ensemble, the Beeping Red Car Band, whose unique blend of funk, punk rock, and folk music persuaded even the most introverted of attendees to dance and sing along.
