Ramon Financial, a “local hero” business of Franklin County

Lisa Middents headshot 2018Lisa MiddentsOnly when I started working for LifePath to raise money for Meals on Wheels did the reality of how important local businesses are to the wellbeing of the whole community become abundantly clear.

For example, I was dismayed to learn that a nationwide retailer would not be returning as a major Meals on Wheels Walkathon sponsor. Their company’s marketing strategy had changed to put all their sponsor dollars into a few nationally-based charities.

Local businesses, on the other hand, have a vested interest in working with local nonprofits to address community needs, such as elders who live home alone and are too frail to shop or cook for themselves. Ramon Financial, a family-owned employee benefits and comprehensive financial planning business, is one of the “local hero” businesses in Franklin County that partners with many area nonprofits to make our community stronger.

About his childhood, he said, “I had everything I ever needed. I thought there was no better way to ‘pay it forward’ than to become involved with organizations that give back to our community members that are truly in need.”Ramon Financial is a loyal sponsor of the Meals on Wheels Walkathon. Mike Ramon explained why the cause is important to his family’s business. “We support Meals on Wheels because, over the years, we have personally known a number of people that have benefited from the program. Also, when I found out that sometimes the beneficiaries of this program get their only interaction with other people when their meals are delivered, I was amazed. Makes the decision to help fund the program an easy one for us.”

Becoming a business sponsor now of the 2018 Meals on Wheels Walkathon, to be held on Saturday, April 28, is great way to give back and to make sure elders in our community don’t feel alone, forgotten, or hungry. All sponsor gifts go directly to provide a hot meal and wellness check to well over 500 elders in Franklin County and the North Quabbin each weekday.
