An astounding commitment to elders

Carol FooteCarol FooteWith our 2018 fiscal year now closed, we are thrilled to report that together we’ve raised $105,088.25 for our Meals on Wheels program. This demonstrates an astounding commitment to elders in our community who are unable to prepare a nutritionally balanced noon meal for themselves and are unable to attend congregate hot lunches. Thank you!

Our annual Meals on Wheels Walkathon is the most visible way funds are raised for this program. This year the event took place at LifePath’s location, the Greenfield Corporate Center, at 101 Munson Street in Greenfield. The event kicked off with a breakfast honoring our 55 Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers. They are the unsung heroes of this program because they deliver nutrition and peace of mind to the 500 elders receiving Meals on Wheels each weekday.

We are so grateful to the organizations that provide program support by sponsoring this event. We offer our gratitude, first and foremost to our lead sponsor, Greenfield Savings Bank. With their gift, more new walkers have been inspired to make a difference for elders in our community. Other business that led the way were:Driver breakfastCommunity members came together at this year's Meals on Wheels Walkathon in support of our local elders as they honored our volunteer drivers with an appreciation breakfast for the countless hours and care they provide.

It isn’t taken for granted that the way the community comes together around Meals on Wheels is simply amazing. On behalf of all of us at LifePath, and those we serve, we can’t thank you enough for all the ways you support this program.

As we wish Lisa Middents well on her transition from LifePath to relocate to be closer to family, I am happy to share that I have taken on the Development Director position at LifePath.  I look forward to working more closely with many of you as we secure independence and health for our local elders.

Save the date for the 2019 Meals on Wheels Walkathon to be held again at the Greenfield Corporate Center at 101 Munson Street, on Saturday, April 27!
