Diabetes Self-Management
Diabetes Self-Management is a six-session workshop series specifically for people with diabetes. Learn to manage your diabetes and stay healthy and independent!
Topics include:
- Techniques to deal with the symptoms of diabetes, such as fatigue, pain, hyper/hypoglycemia, stress, and emotional challenges such as depression, anger, fear and frustration
- Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength and endurance
- Healthy eating
- Appropriate use of medication
- Working more effectively with health care providers
The Diabetes Self-Management workshop series was developed at the Stanford University Patient Education Research Center. It is an "evidence-based" curriculum that has been researched and proven to have positive results for participants. People with type 2 diabetes and their family members, friends, or caregivers may attend the workshop series.
