A Matter of Balance - Falls Prevention

"A Matter of Balance" is a workshop series designed to reduce participants' fear of falling while helping them increase their activity level. The workshop series offers strategies to improve balance and increase flexibility and strength. Participants set training goals and share practical solutions with each other during this 8 week, activity based program. Learn to stay safe, active and independent!

"A Matter of Balance" addresses the physical, social and cognitive factors that can contribute to a person's fear of falling. Activities include:

  • Group discussion
  • Problem solving about how to prevent falls in and around the home
  • Assertiveness training
  • Sharing solutions to common problems involving falls
  • Exercise training
