RSVP: Just a Few Hours Can Make All the Difference
Impossible to believe, but February is approaching, and the staff of RSVP hopes everyone had a healthy and peaceful holiday season. We thank our 600+ active volunteers who make a difference in the lives of elders in Hampshire, Franklin, and Hampden counties 365 days a year and want to highlight a few opportunities that are short-term or only require a day a week or two days a month.

Do you have one morning a week to help the LifePath program that provides daily nutritious meals delivered to homes by dedicated volunteers? For those on a fixed income and/or are homebound, this assistance by RSVP volunteers and others who pack and deliver Meals on Wheels can be life-changing. The volunteer-supported Annual Walkathon supports most of LifePath’s programs, including Meals on Wheels. Volunteer now to help with the planning and production of the 30th Annual Meals on Wheels Walkathon to be held on May 7, 2022. This short-term assignment, done mostly on Zoom, is perfect for people whose time is limited.
LifePath has developed a new nutrition support that utilizes Grocery Shopper volunteers to help people access groceries from home. Twice each month, volunteers create lists with clients, collect the payment, shop for groceries, and provide at-home delivery to elders, people who are immunocompromised, or those with physical challenges. Volunteers can also help clients shop online for groceries.
During this winter season, consider giving the most important gift of your time and volunteer to improve the lives of area elders attempting to age in place. So many of the volunteer opportunities that make a big difference take so little time, but the rewards of doing good and feeling good are abundant. Call RSVP today and begin that journey.
