What People Are Saying
How many times have you left a medical appointment feeling like you still had questions? It can be difficult to get everything answered in a short visit. Your doctor, nurse, or physician’s assistant also may not always understand what’s important to you. One way to make the most of your allotted time and ensure it’s used well is to come organized and prepared.
In advance, we can ask ourselves questions such as:
- What are the most important things in your life right now?
- What’s getting in the way of the things you like to do?
- Are your medications helping you to reach your goals?
This worksheet from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement can help. You can download or print it out and fill it out in advance of your medical appointment. It can help you organize your thoughts so the medical provider can give the best care possible.
(If you don’t have access to a printer, I would be happy to mail you a printed copy. Call me at 413-829-9221 and leave your name and address on your message. )
Taking these steps can help you feel more confident and satisfied with your healthcare experience.
