For the twentieth year, the Northfield Mount Hermon Instrumental Ensembles will again host a benefit concert for LifePath’s Meals on Wheels program. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, February 18th, at 3 p.m., on the beautiful Northfield Mount Hermon campus in the Rhodes Arts Center, at 1 Lamplighter Way, Gill, MA. The concert is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome. Donations will go directly to LifePath, and may be given at the venue, or online.
From the Concert Band and Orchestra, musical selections will include: Flight of the Flutes by James D. Ployhar, Little English Suite by Clare Grundman, America from West Side Story, Sir Edward Elgar’s Serenade for Strings, and The Girl with the Flaxen Hair by Claude Debussy.
There will be an intermission with refreshments (tea and homemade cookies), and then the Jazz Ensembles will be performing Lil Darlin and Shiny Stockings by Count Basie, a vocal rendition of Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra, and Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You by Frankie Valli.
Steve Bathory-Peeler, Orchestra and Band Concert Director, when asked why he does this for LifePath each year, said, “We love opening up our school to the greater Franklin County community and showing elders in the area that we appreciate them.” We are so grateful to Steve; Ron Smith, Director of Music Programs; and the instrumental staff and students for continuing to make the needs of LifePath a priority with this benefit concert. Thank you to the Northfield Mount Hermon community and donors who support LifePath in so many ways!
